Treatment Approach
With advanced training in sports medicine, Michael stays current on best of practice standards and emerging research. This ensures you’ll get the best possible care.
Michael begins with a multi-faceted examination that identifies all relevant components of an individual’s biomechanics, coordination, mobility, strength, and training that may be contributing to an injury and subpar performance.
By evaluating your body as a whole, Michael is able to identify and treat the root cause of the pain. This results in a customized treatment plan collaboratively created with you, so you can return pain and injury-free to your activity.
Treatment is individualized and can include the following interventions depending on your needs:
Education to provide a deep understanding of your pain and symptoms
A clear and detailed plan of how physical therapy will help you achieve an optimal outcome
Customized exercise programs to improve strength, mobility, and coordination, including clear and detailed instructions, photos, and videos to properly execute outside of therapy
Hands-on manual therapy:
Instrument assisted and soft tissue mobilization to decrease tightness and improve mobility
Functional dry needling
Joint and spine mobilization/manipulation
Sport-specific drills to improve control and coordination
Recommendations for optimal footwear and orthotics
Gait re-training strategies to modify running biomechanics, achieve optimal performance, and minimize loading on aggravated tissues
Review of training plans to identify and correct training errors
Strategies to decrease future risk of re-injury
