Gait Analysis
Proper running form is necessary to minimize risk of injury and achieve peak performance. Whether you have been injured or are looking to improve your performance, we can help. Our running evaluation identifies areas of improvement in your mechanics, strength, mobility, and muscular endurance. Each 75 minute analysis includes:
Slow motion video analysis of your running biomechanics from multiple planes
Detailed interpretation and review of your findings
If indicated, initiation of gait retraining drills to help modify running form and to minimize risk of injury and improve performance
A thorough review of your training, goals, and past injury history
Full body assessment of running specific strength, mobility, and muscular endurance
Discussion of strength/mobility/endurance deficits, running mechanics, footwear considerations, and areas of improvement
A customized running specific exercise program to address areas of improvement
Follow-up sessions are available to continue progress from initial evaluation.
If you currently have pain or an injury, Running Gait Analysis can be included as part of an initial physical therapy evaluation.
Our slow motion video gait analysis software allows us to visualize and quantify changes in running mechanics following gait retraining.
Right: This runner with knee pain presents with classic “overstriding”. He makes contact with the ground well in front of his center of mass, which results in increased loading at the knee.
Left: following cueing to modulate mechanics, the runner now lands with his foot almost directly beneath his center of mass. Most importantly, by adapting these new mechanics, he was able to completely resolve his knee pain.
